The University of Nicosia (UNIC) is one of the leading comprehensive research-oriented universities in the Mediterranean region, committed to teaching, research and innovation, sustainability, societal engagement and contribution to culture.

The University offers more than 100 conventional face-to-face (on campus) and distance learning online programmes at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree level, hosting more than 14,000 students from over 100 countries.

UNIC conducts extensive high quality basic, applied, and interdisciplinary research that benefits society on a national and global scale. The University’s academic standing and global outlook have been reflected in outstanding results in international rankings. Indicatively, UNIC has been recognised by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023 as being among the top 2% of universities in the world.

UNIC’s main campus is located in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, an EU-member state.

All University of Nicosia Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degrees are accredited by the Republic of Cyprus, and are recognised in the EU and internationally.

Specifically, the University of Nicosia programmes of study are evaluated and accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in  Higher Education (DIPAE), which is registered with the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). This confirms the status and standard of the University’s degrees within the country and abroad, and is indicative of the quality and standards maintained by the university.

The University of Nicosia is a member of the European Universities Association (EUA), the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE) the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the Network of Universities of Small Countries and Territories (NUSCT) and is one of a few universities in the European Union that has received both the Diploma Supplement Label  and the ECTS Label.

Recognition in Greece by D.O.A.T.A.P.

D.O.A.T.A.P (Greece) has recognised the University of Nicosia as equivalent to Greek universities, and has thus recognised degrees of our graduates.

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) has been named among the top 501-600 universities in the world, according to the 2023 edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

The THE World University Rankings (WUR) is possibly the best-known and most influential university rankings in the world, benchmarking institutions across their core missions: Teaching, Research, Knowledge Transfer, and International Outlook. The expanded THE WUR 2023 edition includes 1,799 ranked research-intensive universities, out of more than 25,000 universities globally, that met the THE eligibility criteria and applied for assessment. One of the core areas in which the University demonstrably continues to excel in the THE WUR is International Outlook, where UNIC ranked 47th globally.
